The heart does not have Alzheimer's disease: electrical and mechanical cardiac memory after ventricular pacing.

چکیده
t has been known for some time that an altered sequence of entricular activation with a left bundle-branch conduction isturbance or right ventricular pacing is associated with a eduction in systolic and diastolic function manifested by ower ejection fraction and higher filling pressures. Furtherore, a variety of studies have shown that for a period of ime following cessation of the conduction disturbance resolution of left bundle branch block or discontinuance of entricular pacing), the heart manifests electrical and mehanical cardiac memory—persistent secondary repolarizaion changes and diastolic dysfunction.

Right ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease
Introduction: In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...
متن کاملThe Effect of Estrogen on Passive Avoidence Memory in an Experimental Model of Alzheimer`s disease in Male Rats
Introduction: Estrogen is one of the gonadal hormones that has multiple beneficial actions in central nervous system and involves in learning and memory. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that impairs patient memory. The human nucleus basalis of Meynert (nBM) is severely affected in Alzheimer's disease. So in this study the effect of peripheral (intramuscul...
متن کاملCardiac memory and cortical memory.
To the Editor: Dr Rosen and colleagues1 elegantly reviewed similarities between cortical and cardiac memory and presented new perspectives on the evolution of cardiac arrhythmias. We propose that, in addition to ion channels and gap junctions, myocyte size can also change in response to altered activation sequence and behaves like a “memory element.” In developing cortical memory, neurons form ...
متن کاملElectromechanical model of cardiac resynchronization in the dilated failing heart with left bundle branch block.
Experimental studies have shown that biventricular pacing can improve systolic function in the failing heart with bundle branch block. The goal of this study was to develop and validate a three-dimensional computational model of the dilated failing heart with left bundle branch block to investigate how biventricular pacing can improve systolic mechanical performance and synchrony. In an anatomi...
متن کاملRepolarization changes underlying long-term cardiac memory due to right ventricular pacing: noninvasive mapping with electrocardiographic imaging.
BACKGROUND Cardiac memory refers to the observation that altered cardiac electrical activation results in repolarization changes that persist after the restoration of a normal activation pattern. Animal studies, however, have yielded disparate conclusions, both regarding the spatial pattern of repolarization changes in cardiac memory and the underlying mechanisms. The present study was undertak...
